Stand Against Racism Program
A Plan to Community Cohesion

Written by:

How can we sustain the Stand Against Racism in a deep and meaningful way?

How do we address not only racism but all kinds of forces that separate our communities?

How do we build our community into a more united and robust place?

How can a regular resident gain the knowledge and experience to make a community improve?

The Stand Against Racism Program: A Plan to Community Cohesion can answer all of the above.

The Stand Against Racism Program is a self-guided process that addresses community cohesion as a means to eliminating racism. The program is meant to engage participants in a local community. Like the Stand Against Racism Event, it is meant to be a customizable “program in a can” that can be easily duplicated anywhere in the country. It consists of The Leaders’ Guide, participant workbooks, a Welcome DVD that includes a video walk-through, and a 3-set instructional DVD set.

Community Cohesion is a set of processes that bring a group of people together in order to build strength, resilience and opportunity for all. It is especially crucial in diverse communities in which there are people of various ages, races/ethnicities, wealth levels, and lifestyles (in other words, in most of our increasingly diverse communities!).

Our program is based in timeless principles of community building but is a fresh, direct and positive, and aggressive approach. Our approach to Community Cohesion involves 5 important elements:

  • - Compassion
  • - Connection
  • - Communication
  • - Collaboration
  • - Competition
