Hightlights of the 2011 Stand Against Racism™...


The 2011Stand Against Racism™ took place on April 29, 2011. A total of 2,151 organizations participated in the Stand Against Racism™ in 39 states across our country. This was a great collaboration of 71 YWCA Associations.

We are estimating that approximately 267,000 people took a Stand Against Racism™!

Massachusetts - Forming a Bridge Against Racism in Boston

Students at Buncombe County Early College Staged a Rant Againt Racism following their Stand Against Racism™ on Thursday. Students delivered "soap box" speeches during lunch in an effort to end racism in their community.

Florida - Empire Beauty School in West Palm Beach

There were over 60 people in attendance at our Stand Against Racism™ Seminar proctored by Barbara Chieves.  It was a motivational and eye opening seminar.  All attendees signed the poster in the picture to “Stand Against Racism™.”

New Jersey - YWCA Eastern Union County's Stand

YWCA Eastern Union County staff was joined by United Way representatives and community members for an interactive panel presentation about Racism Today, and then gathered across from City Hall for a rally, where the YWCA received a proclamation from Elizabeth City Council.

The Firm, DiCicco, Gulman & Company in Woburn, Mass held a World Fair at their office as part of the Stand Against Racism™. They celebrated diversity through food. Different employees brought in dishes that represented their heritage. It was a delicious day and a great way to take a Stand Against Racism™!
